Advanced is the newest addition to the QuickBooks lineup available in South Africa, aimed at established businesses that have outgrown Plus but are not ready for the cost and weight of a full ERP. It carries twenty five user seats, free accountant access, and a rand price of R1,144 per month with a 30 day trial to prove itself first.

The value sits in control and insight. Role based access means the sales team sees customers and invoices while only finance sees the bank. Workflow automation moves approvals and reminders out of email: an invoice over a threshold can route to a manager automatically, overdue customers can be chased on a schedule. The custom report builder is the deepest in the QuickBooks range and syncs two ways with Excel, which finance managers tend to consider the killer feature. Chart of accounts and class and location tracking are unlimited at this level, custom fields triple to twelve, and backup and restore protects the file against the fat finger moments every business eventually has.

The newer AI additions land here first, including Finance AI for tailored financial insight and Project Management AI that pre fills work so jobs start faster. Weigh the cost honestly: at R1,144 per month it is several times the price of Simple Start, and a business that does not need the automation or the seats is paying for headroom. But measured against a mid market ERP implementation, Advanced delivers a surprising share of the control at a fraction of the cost and none of the consulting hours.
