Cookie Policy

This page explains how softgids.co.za uses cookies and similar technology, and it sits comfortably alongside our commitments under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that your browser keeps on your device. It lets a website remember simple things about you, such as whether you prefer a light or dark screen, and it helps us see which pages people find useful.
The cookies we set
| Type | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Remembers your theme choice and keeps the basics of the site working | Up to twelve months |
| Analytics | Measures how the site is used, in a way that stays aggregated and respectful of your privacy | The length of your visit |
We do not run advertising cookies, and we do not follow you around other websites. That is a deliberate choice.
Affiliate links
When you follow a link to a software vendor, we record that click on our own server against a scrambled version of your IP address, purely so we can report on it in aggregate. Once you land on the vendor site, that company may set its own cookies under its own policies, which are outside our control.
Staying in charge
You can clear or block cookies at any time in your browser settings. Do bear in mind that blocking the essential ones may switch off small conveniences, such as remembering the theme you like.
