The entry level shootout. Simple Start at R322 undercuts Sage's Standard tier and its mobile app and AI categorisation are a class ahead, but it locks you to one user and its VAT setup needs configuring for SARS. Sage Accounting costs more once you need bookkeeping depth, yet the VAT201 alignment, local support line and accountant familiarity make it the safer first system for most SA owners. Solo operators pick Simple Start; anyone whose accountant runs the books picks Sage.
